At OnPoint we take great pride in helping to set up our customers for success. So we have great appreciation for what Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) does for more than 44,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities throughout the Lone Star State. SOTX provides continuing opportunities for these beautiful Texans to realize their potential, develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy and friendship. We consider it a privilege to contribute to SOTX, as the participation brings out the best in all of us.
OnPoint is a proud sponsor of the annual Valero Texas Open Benefit for Children Golf Classic. Over the past 20 years the event has become a premier spot on the pro golf tour and has grown into a nationwide effort to improve the lives of children delivering tens of millions of dollars to charities since 2002. We are certainly honored to partner with our friends at the Valero Energy Foundation and hope to continue to do our part for years to come.
The Wheelhouse is a not-for-profit organization that opened its doors in 1952 in Deer Park, Texas. Serving up to 24 men on a consistent basis, it is a bare bones living environment that offers help to alcohol addicted men. The Wheelhouse offers a two-phase program that has an exceptionally high success rate because those who have been helped return to help new residents. This circle of receiving help is a proven way to continually empower all involved and to address life’s problems without returning to substance use/abuse.
Character Camp began in 1986 as an outreach organization to inner-city youth in Houston. The organization believes that getting kids involved in sports, recreation and academic activities sets them up for success. Character Camp gives youth a safe, productive place to go after school and during the summer, and provides countless children with necessities like food, clothing and shelter that may not otherwise be accessible. Character Camp focuses on twelve key character elements that help guide and mold the kids they serve into well-prepared adults equipped with critical life skills. Their volunteers are highly motivated educators, coaches, doctors, engineers and other highly skilled mentors. Our own Director of Training, Arthur Davidson, is the Executive Director of Character Camp. His passion for the mission is infectious, and it ignited a fire in us, prompting us to get involved in their efforts.
OnPoint and our employees are very proud to support the American Cancer Society, a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Their work starts with researching the disease and its many causes to find more answers and better treatments. Then their efforts extend to promoting healthy lifestyles to help us all prevent cancer, fighting for life-saving policy changes, and providing everything from emotional support to the latest information for those who have been touched by cancer. And they do it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
